A common question is how much does an investigation cost. The answer depends on the scope and complexity of the investigation. Cell phone investigation begins at $150. Recovering lost or deleted files from a single computer begins at $150. Investigation of a computer begins at $500 and can run well over $1000 for a complex case. Building exact bit stream images (clones) of computers verified by an MD5 hash runs $150 per drive. Creating clones allows an investigation to occur while getting you up and running on the exact clone - so you can continue working on your computer because it isn't tied up with the investigation. Other variables that factor into cost include the size of the computer hard drives, the number of computers, pick up/delivery, and expediting service. Clandestine off hours digital forensics work is also offered, and multiple investigators can be engaged for large efforts. The person initiating service must warrant that they are of legal age and have the authority to initiate services.
